Nobody every talks about this but believe me, when you’re in Chile and your favourite website (located in the US or Europe) is loading very slowly, you ask yourself: is it my ISP or is it the fact that when I ping a European website from Chile, I have to go through Argentina and Brazil (or Peru and Colombia), then the US and finally, to Europe? (via My broadband experience in Europe, Asia, Latin America and the US - MuniWireless)
